Die Schweiz hat viele imposante Bauwerke.

Höher, grösser, imposanter die Architekten und Bauherren lassen sich viel einfallen, um sich ein Denkmal zu setzen. Den Menschen hinterlassen sie die Landschaft und Städte von weitem sichtbare und prägende Bauwerke, die auch noch kommende Generationen ins Staunen versetzen werden. Doch was sind die imposantesten Bauwerke in der Schweiz?

Das höchste Gebäude
Das höchste Gebäude in der Schweiz steht in Basel. Der sich noch im Bau befindliche Roche-Turm, des Pharmakonzerns Hoffmann-La Roche wird nach seiner geplanten Fertigstellung in einigen Jahren 205 Meter hoch sein. Bereits jetzt hat er mit einer Höhe von 178 Metern in der Bauphase zweidas zuvor höchste Gebäude, den Prime Tower in Zürich, bei weitem überholt. Im internationalen Vergleich handelt es sich jedoch um vergleichsweise niedrige Bauwerke. Das höchste Gebäude Deutschlands ist mit 365 Metern der Fernsehturm in Berlin. Das höchste Gebäude der Welt ist mit 828 Meter der Burj Khalifa. Dieses steht in Dubai in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten.

Das höchste Bauwerk
Das höchste Gebäude in der Schweiz ist jedoch nicht das höchste Bauwerk. Auf 285 Meter Höhe bringt es der Staudamm ist die Grande Dixence in im Gemeindegebiet von Hérémence/VS das höchste Bauwerk noch vor dem 250 Meter hohen Fernsehturm St. Chrischona in Bettingen/BS und der ebenfalls 250 Meter hohen Staumauer Mauvoisin im Val de Bagnes/VS. Lange Zeit war auch der Kühlturm des AKW Gösgen mit 150 Metern höher als das höchste Bürogebäude in der Schweiz.

Das teuerste Bauwerk
Das teuerste Bauwerk in der Schweiz ist der Gotthard Basistunnel, der ganze 12,2 Milliarden Schweizer Franken verschlang. Mit insgesamt 57 Kilometer Länge ist der Gotthard Basistunnel zugleich der längste Eisenbahntunnel der Welt. Der Bau dauerte ganze 17 Jahre. Der längste Felstunnel der Welt ist der Päijänne-Tunnel in Finnland, durch den über 119 Kilometer eine Wasserleitung führt, gefolgt vom 57,9 Kilometer langen U-Bahn-Tunnel der Linie dreiin der chinesischen Stadt Guangzhou. Das teuerste Gebäude dagegen ist das HCI-Gebäude der ETH Zürich auf dem Hönggerberg, das etwa 700 Millionen Schweizer Franken Baukosten verschlang.

Die höchste Brücke
Die höchste Brücke in der Schweiz ist die 2017 errichtete Tarminabrücke bei der Gemeinde Pfäfers. In 207 Meter Höhe überbrückt die Strassenbrüche hier die Tarminaschlucht in St Gallen. Mit 260 Meter Bogenlänge ist die zugleich auch die längste Bogenbrücke in der Schweiz und Ausdruck der Architektursprache in den Alpen. Die höchste Hängebrücke ist dagegen die Niouc-Brücke im Kanton Wallis, die in 190 Meter Höhe den Fluss Navisence zischen dem Weiler Niouc und dem Ort Vercorin verbindet.

Die meistbesuchte Brücke
Bei Touristen und Schweizern sehr beliebt ist das Wahrzeichen Luzerns, die im Mittelalter errichtete Kapellbrücke. Unzählige Besucher laufen täglich über die Brücke, die mit 111 Giebelgemälden viel von ihrer und der Schweizer Geschichte erzählt und nebenbei auf 205 Metern Länge die Alt- und Neustadt über die Reuss miteinander verbindet.

Das schönste Gebäude
Über Geschmack kann man natürlich streiten. Viele Schweizer meinen jedoch, dass das Grande Casino Luzern das prachtvollste in der Schweiz ist. Erbaut und ist auch heute noch für sein Alter sehr gut erhalten und zugänglich. Zu den besonderen Attraktionen im Inneren gehören das im Original erhaltene Taufbecken, die Nischen mit Wandbemalungen sowie der ebenfalls originale Taufstein. Noch älter ist die alte römische Wasserleitung am Legionärspfad in Windisch, die bereits vor 2.000 Jahren das dort befindliche römische Lager mit Wasser versorgte.

Berner Innenstadt
Nicht ein einzelnes Bauwerk, sondern ein ganzes Ensemble mit imposanten Bauwerken ist die Berner Innenstadt, die seit 1983 Weltkulturerbe ist. Die mittelalterlichen Gassen und Häuser sind vielfach noch im Originalzustand und durch ein mehr als sechs Kilometer langem Netz aus Laubengängen umgeben.

Die drei Burgen von Bellinzona
Auch die von den Römern errichteten drei Burgen von Belinzona zählen zu den ältesten und imposantesten Bauwerken in der Schweiz. Die Burg Montebello, Sasso Corbaro und Castelgrande dienten seinerzeit als Zollstelle und zur Kontrolle des Verkehrs über den Gotthard Pass. Sie zeugen von der raffinierten Befestigungsbaukunst der Römer und sind seit dem Jahr 2000 auch Weltkulturerbe.
