Die Umwelt Arena Schweiz leistet seit 10 Jahren einen wichtigen Beitrag zu Energieeffizienz und Nachhaltigkeit

Am 2. September 2022 hat die Umwelt Arena gemeinsam mit ihren Ausstellungspartnern aus der Schweizer Wirtschaft sowie Vertretern aus Bund, Kantonen, Gemeinden sowie Hochschulen ihr Jubiläum gefeiert. Die Ausstellungen und Projekte der Umwelt Arena zu den Themen Energieeffizienz und Nachhaltigkeit im Alltag sind aktueller denn je.

Spreitenbach, September 2022 Nachhaltigkeit zum Anfassen und Erleben – das war das Versprechen der Umwelt Arena vor 10 Jahren. Dieses Versprechen hat sie eingelöst. In Ausstellungswelten erfahren Besucherinnen und Besucher, wieso es sich lohnt, in einheimische, erneuerbare Energien zu investieren und, wie die Abhängigkeit von Energieimporten reduziert werden kann. Themen, welche aktueller sind denn je.

Auf anschauliche und spielerische Art werden Tipps zum Umsetzen im Alltag gegeben. Besucher erfahren, dass Photovoltaikmodule nicht nur schwarz, sondern auch farbig oder sogar weiss sein können, sie lernen neue Aspekte einer gesunden, nachhaltigen Ernährung kennen, oder aber, wie eine Autobatterie recycelt werden kann.

„Nachhaltigkeit zum Erleben“ erfahren Besucher wortwörtlich auf dem Indoor Parcours, wo sie kostenlos E-Autos sowie 2- und 3-Rad-E- und abenteuerliche Funfahrzeuge ausprobieren können. Die Umwelt Arena hat sich als Ausflugsziel für Nachhaltigkeit bei Firmen, Vereinen, Einzelpersonen, Familien und Schulen etabliert. Für Gruppen werden alters- und branchengerechte Themenführungen durch die Ausstellungen angeboten. In den 10 Jahren haben rund 1,5 Millionen Menschen die Umwelt Arena besucht.

Am „Abend der Pioniere“, charmant moderiert von Christa Rigozzi, zeigte sich die Umwelt Arena den 450 geladenen Gästen aus Politik, Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft als nachhaltige Eventlocation von ihrer besten Seite. Der Abend wurde von THE BPM, der bekannten Eventband und der Schweizer Sängerin Maja Brunner musikalisch begleitet. Umwelt Arena-Kenner erinnern sich: im August 2012 hatte Doris Leuthard, damals Bundesrätin, die Umwelt Arena offiziell eröffnet. Und auch zum 10-Jahre-Jubiläum liess sie es sich nicht nehmen, der Umwelt Arena und dem Gastgeber und Stiftungsratspräsidenten Walter Schmid, zu gratulieren. Walter Schmid sagt: „Doris Leuthard hat nicht nur die Umwelt Arena offiziell eröffnet, sie hat vier Jahre später auch das energieautarke (ohne Strom- und Gasanschluss, ohne Öl) Mehrfamilienhaus in Brütten eingeweiht und feiert heute mit uns. Ihre Besuche und unsere fachkundigen Gespräche motivieren unser Team für bahnbrechende Projekte“.

In den letzten 10 Jahren hat die Umwelt Arena viele nationale und internationale Auszeichnungen für Bestleistungen im Energiebereich gewonnen. Am „Abend der Pioniere“ diskutierten Roger Balmer, Hybridbox AG und René Schmid, René Schmid Architekten AG, unter der Leitung von Christa Rigozzi, über Notwendigkeit und Sinn dieser Pionierprojekte.

Und Prof. Dr. Markus Friedl, Ostschweizer Fachhochschule, erklärte, dass bereits jetzt grössere Mengen selbst hergestelltes Gas im Gasnetz zwischengespeichert werden können und dass solche Speichermöglichkeiten in Zukunft noch viel wichtiger werden.

Joana Filippi, Staatsschreiberin des Kantons Aargau, meinte am Jubiläumsabend: „Der Kanton Aargau erarbeitet Massnahmen mit dem vordringlichen Ziel, eine Strom- und Gasmangellage abzuwenden; gleichzeitig hält der Regierungsrat an seiner Energiestrategie fest, um die Abkehr von fossilen Brennstoffen voranzutreiben – so wird beispielsweise der Ausbau von erneuerbaren Energien, insbesondere der Photovoltaik, mit der bereits beschlossenen Solaroffensive gefördert.“

Kurt Aeschbacher leitete die Talkrunde mit bekannten Vertretern aus der Wirtschaft. Bernhard Caviezel, Product Marketing Director ABB erklärte, wie Gebäudeautomation und energieeffiziente Systeme Gebäude nachhaltig machen können. Jan Heusser, Project Manager Sustainability Coop, unterstrich die Bedeutung der Nachhaltigkeit für Coop, die beispielsweise mit dem grössten Bio-Sortiment des Landes tief im Unternehmen verankert ist und mehr bedeutet als nur eine Werbebotschaft. Stefan Stübi, Leiter Verkauf Energie, erklärte, dass Energie 360° bis 2040 ausschliesslich erneuerbare Energien anbieten will. Und Andy Heiz, Stv. CEO Axpo Group verriet, dass Axpo die Sparte Biomasse weiter ausbauen wird. „Die Verarbeitung von organischen Küchenabfällen und Grüngut ist CO2-neutral, erneuerbar und trägt in erheblichem Masse zum Klimaschutz bei“ betonte er. Für Hansueli Loosli, ehemaliger Präsident des Verwaltungsrates der Coop-Gruppe, ist die Umwelt Arena wichtig, weil sie für Jung und Alt gut verständlicher Anschauungsunterricht für nachhaltige Lösungen ist.

Markus Mötteli, Gemeindepräsident Spreitenbach, freut sich, dass die Umwelt Arena ab Ende Jahr besser an den umweltfreundlichen öffentlichen Verkehr angeschlossen sein wird. Mit der Limmattal-Bahn erhält sie eine eigene Haltestelle direkt vor ihrer Tür.

Der Schlüssel zum Erfolg der Umwelt Arena ist die Tatsache, dass alle ihre Ausstellungen und Projekte immer drei Gewinner haben: der Konsument, welcher an einem Ort gesunde und energie-effiziente Produkte und Tipps zu einem nachhaltigen Leben findet; der Produzent, denn nur, wenn der Absatz stimmt, kann wieder in Innovationen investiert werden; und die Umwelt, welche von einer deutlich reduzierten CO2-Belastung profitiert.
In Zusammenarbeit mit Bundesämtern, Hochschulen und der Wirtschaft wird die Stiftung Umwelt Arena Schweiz als Kompetenzzentrum für Umwelt und Energiefragen mit Ausstellungen und Themen-führungen weiterhin alles daransetzen, viele Besucher zu erreichen und zu Gewinnern zu machen.
