Mit der richtigen Lüftung

 Qualitativ hochwertige Raumluft ist Grundlage für guten Komfort.

Gebäude sind so unterschiedlich wie deren Bewohnende und müssen daher bei der Planung von Neubauten sowie der Sanierung von Bestandsbauten individuell angeschaut werden. Zwei neue Studien geben Orientierung dazu, welche Lüftungssysteme die Behaglichkeit, Gesundheit und Ökologie optimal berücksichtigen. 

Minergie-Gebäude gewährleisten gute Raumluft dank einer automatischen Frischluftzufuhr. Die meisten Lüftungen haben eine Wärmerückgewinnung, weshalb beim automatischen Lüften kaum Wärme – und somit Energie – verloren geht. Neue Studien vergleichen verschiedene Lüftungssysteme – auch auf Komfort und Gesundheit.

Passendes Lüftungssystem
Um Stärken und Schwächen verschiedener Lüftungssysteme abschätzen zu können, beurteilt die Studie «Vergleich von Lüftungskonzepten für Wohnbauten» nicht nur die technischen und finanziellen Aspekte, sondern auch den ökologischen Fussabdruck, Komfort und gesundheitliche Aspekte. Untersucht wurden Komfortlüftungen, Abluftanlagen und Einzelraumlüftungsgeräte. Von insgesamt zwölf Parametern betreffen sechs die Technik und Wirtschaftlichkeit und sechs nutzungs- und gesundheitsrelevante Aspekte. Zum Vergleich wurde auch eine Fensterlüftung mit einfachem Badab­luftventilator beurteilt. 

In einer anderen Studienreihe wurden Komfortlüftungen (Einzel- und Mehrwohnungsanlagen) sowie Abluftanlagen mit ALD und Einzelraumlüftungsgeräte im laufenden Betrieb untersucht. Die erste Studie stammt aus dem Jahr 2018: «Abluftanlagen und Einzelraumlüftungen im Vollzug Energie», die zweite aus dem Jahr 2021: «Komfortlüftung im Vollzug Energie: Praxisunter­suchung von einfachen Lüftungsanlagen (Einzelwohnungsanlagen) bezüglich Funktion, Energie und hygienischem Zustand».
Die untersuchten Komfortlüftungen waren im Betrieb robuster und stabiler als die
anderen Systeme. Im Vergleich mit den Einzelraumlüftungsgeräten war damit auch die Energieeffizienz besser. Bei einer klaren Mehrzahl der untersuchten Komfortlüftungen waren die von der Norm geforderten Luftvolumenströme im angetroffenen und
gereinigten Zustand erfüllt.

Bei den analysierten Abluftanlagen und Einzelraumlüftungsgeräten wurden die von
der Norm geforderten Luftvolumenströme mehrheitlich nicht erreicht. Die Anlagen
waren tendenziell unterdimensioniert, zudem gab es teils erhebliche Reduktionen durch Verschmutzungen. Abluftanlagen mit ALD und Einzelraumlüftungsgeräte reagieren empfindlich auf Verschmutzungen. Im Wesentlichen gelangten die Studien zu
folgendem Fazit:

  • Gut geplante Komfortlüftungen mit Wärmerückgewinnung schneiden in Bezug auf Komfort und Gesundheit insgesamt deutlich besser ab als die anderen Systeme.
  • Besser sind die Raumluftqualität, Raumluftfeuchte, thermische Behaglichkeit, Gesamtenergiebilanz und Robustheit.
  • Abluftanlagen erhalten wegen des systembedingten Unterdrucks in der Wohnung, der fehlenden Aussenluft-Vorwärmung, des Überhitzungsrisikos und der geringeren Robustheit im Betrieb schlechtere Bewertungen bei den nutzungs- und gesundheits-relevanten Aspekten. Nur in puncto des ökologischen Fussabdrucks und der finanziellen Aspekte zeigen sie Vorteile.


Flexibilität bei Bestandsbauten
Vor allem eine energetische Modernisierung braucht ein professionelles Fingerspitzengefühl, wenn es um ein passendes Lüftungssystem geht. Die bei Minergie-Modernisierungen seit 2019 zugelassene Grundlüftung soll den Eigentümer*innen und Architekt*innen mehr Flexibilität geben, um bei anspruchsvollen Modernisierungen eine Lüftung einzubauen. Bei der Grundlüftung wird die Luft nur über offene Türen in den Wohneinheiten verteilt, statt wie bei den Verbundlüftern über Ventilatoren oder über Kanäle einer KWL. Das ist deutlich einfacher und kostengünstiger, bietet dank Vorwärmung der Zuluft einen höheren Komfort als Abluftanlagen, aber bei geschlossenen Türen eine deutliche Einschränkung im Vergleich zur Komfortlüftung.

Die Hochschule Luzern hat nun in der «Analyse vereinfachter Lüftungskonzepte» aufgezeigt, dass eine Grundlüftung nachweislich dann funktioniert, wenn die Nutzenden mitspielen. Lösungen sind offene Türen (>20 Zentimeter), grosse Überströmöffnungen oder aktive Überströmer. Sobald die Türen geschlossen werden, wird es kritisch. Die Messungen in realen Objekten haben regelmässige CO2-Pegel von über 4000 Parts per million (ppm) ergeben. Mit einer genügend grossen Überströmöffnung oben und unten an den Türen wäre der Luftaustausch gewährleistet – leider ist dies aber kaum realisierbar. Die Nutzenden müssen demnach sehr gut instruiert werden. Alternativ sollten die Schlafzimmer mit einer unterstützenden Massnahme (zum Beispiel einem aktiven Überströmer) ausgestattet werden. Das Gute an der Grundlüftung ist, dass nicht jeder Raum damit ausgerüstet werden muss. Als noch bessere Lösung bietet sich die Komfortlüftung an.

Frische Luft gleich viel Energie?
Klar: Das Lüftungsgerät benötigt für den Betrieb Strom. Im Vergleich zu den gesamten Energie-Einsparungen, die ein Minergie-­Gebäude bringt, ist diese Menge aber klein. Zudem verbraucht die Komfortlüftung dank Wärmerückgewinnung weniger Energie als eine Fensterlüftung, wenn die Qualität der Innenraumluft auf einem gesunden Niveau bleiben soll.

Ein Minergie-zertifiziertes Gebäude benötigt im Betrieb 20 Prozent weniger Energie als in der MuKEn14 (in den meisten Kantonen vorgeschrieben) gefordert wird. Baut man nach Minergie-P, sind es 25 Prozent – und nach Minergie-A sogar 50 Prozent. Bei steigenden Energiekosten steigt die Nebenkostenrechnung der Minergie-Besitzer*innen und Mieter*innen also weniger stark an als in einem Durchschnittsgebäude. Denn beispielsweise dank der guten Dämmung muss weniger geheizt werden.
