zu den revolutionären Möglichkeiten und Chancen des Baustoffs Carbon
Prestressed Concrete (CPC) und spricht über die Herausforderungen von
Nachhaltigkeit im Bausektor und die damit verbundene Überzeugungsarbeit.

Herr Staubli, was hat Sie bewogen, sich vor zwei Jahren selbstständig zu machen?
Kevin Staubli: Der CPC-Baustoff (schmunzelt).

Und was daran?
Nun, dieser Baustoff ermöglicht eine ganz neue Bauweise mit Beton und verkörpert all das, was ein moderner Baustoff heute bezüglich Ökologie und Recycling bieten muss.

Erzählen Sie uns bitte mehr darüber. CPC steht für «Carbon Prestressed Concrete» und ist ein Verfahren, das die Ingenieure der CPC AG, die das Patent halten, in Zusammenarbeit mit Forschungspartnern, darunter die ZHAW, entwickelt haben. Kurz erklärt, muss man es sich so vorstellen: Carbonfäden (Bewehrung) werden in einer Schalungsvorrichtung eingespannt, darüber wird Beton gegossen. Während einer bestimmten Zeit, in der der Beton aushärtet, bleiben die Fäden gespannt. Sobald man den Zug auf die Fäden lockert, wird der Beton zusammengedrückt, was zu einer hohen Steifigkeit und Tragfähigkeit der
CPC-Platten führt. Diese werden in grossen Formaten gefertigt. Mit einer CNC-Maschine werden dann Bauteile aus diesen Halbfabrikaten gefräst, welche auf der Baustelle montiert oder zu grösseren Bauwerken (zum Beispiel Modulbrücken) zusammengebaut werden.

Was hat dieses Verfahren mit Ihren Wertänderungen als Jungunternehmer gemeinsam?
Dieses Verfahren erlaubt es, Betonkonstruktionen, seien es Balkone, Beläge, Brücken, Decken oder gar Wände, im Optimalfall mit nur 25Prozent der üblichen Betonmenge zu operieren. Das bedeutet, man spart 75Prozent an Beton ein, ohne dabei an
Tragfähigkeit einzubüssen. Und zudem ist dieses Produkt jederzeit zu 100 Prozent recycelbar. Sei es, weil man gebrauch Elemente anderswo wiederverwenden möchte oder sie im Kreislaufwirtschaftsprozess zu neuem Material verarbeitet. Darauf legen wir grossen Wert. Überzeugend für mich waren somit drei Faktoren, die mich motivierten, dieses Produkt am Schweizer Markt zu vertreiben: Erstens hatte ich ein Produkt, das einen kleinen CO2-Fussabdruck hinterlässt, bei manchen Anwendungen kleiner als der Einsatz von Holz im Bau. Zweitens konnte ich mein Marketing-Studium in der Praxis einsetzen und dabei meinen eigenen Business Case in Form eines «Proof of Concept» lancieren. Und drittens kann ich Awareness rund um die Produkte schaffen, die wir im Schweizer Markt einführen und verbauen.

Wann ist diese Idee bei Ihnen gereift?
Ich konnte während meines beruflichen Werdegangs den «Erfindern» dieses Bauverfahrens über die Schulter kucken und habe dabei das Potenzial der CPC-Bauweise, welche neue Ansätze im Betonbau ermöglicht, erkannt. Mit CPC werden nachhaltige, ressourcenschonende und wiederverwendbare Betonkonstruktionen möglich. So packte ich die mir gebotene Gelegenheit, im Schweizer Markt den CPC-Baustoff zu vertreiben, und gründete die Firma CPC Solution.

Welche Lösungen und Produkte bietet CPC Solution an?
In einer ersten Phase haben wir uns auf die Betonelemente Balkone, Modulbrücken, Beläge, Treppen und Podeste sowie auf Rohplatten zum Beispiel für den Hochbau spezialisiert. Wir können so Architekten, Bauherren und Bauämter in den Kantonen oder Gemeinden beraten und zugleich direkt aus unserer Produktpalette beliefern.

Und CPC Solution produziert diese Betonplatten?
Nein, die Produktionsrechte hat HOLCIM erhalten. Als weltweit führender Betonanbieter ist HOLCIM der geeignetste Partner für die Stückmengen, die wir in den nächsten fünf bis zehn Jahren erreichen wollen. Meine Unternehmung hat sich darauf spezialisiert, das generische
Marketing für CPC (Awareness) sowie das Produktmarketing im Schweizer Markt (Leadgeneration) mit Abverkauf und baubegleitendem Projektmanagement
anzubieten. In dieser Arbeitsteilung arbeiten wir sehr eng mit unserem Sparringspartner HOLCIM zusammen.

Das heisst, Sie realisieren Projekte in eigener Regie?
Als Projektmanager ja. Wir akquirieren Projekte, erstellen Offerten, reichen Vorschläge ein und beraten alle im Bauvorhaben involvierten Stakeholder. Die Statikberechnungen realisieren wir jedoch in enger Zusammenarbeit mit den Ingenieuren der CPC AG.

Wie entwickelt sich das Geschäft mit dieser nachhaltigen Bauweise?
(runzelt die Stirn) Grundsätzlich gut. Allerdings bin ich wohl zu stark von der Annahme ausgegangen, dass alle Beteiligten in den verschiedenen Prozessketten – vom politischen Willen bis hin zur Umsetzungsfront – dasselbe Ziel verfolgen, nämlich möglichst schnell nachhaltige und recycelbare Materialien im Bau einzusetzen. Obwohl das Tiefbauamt des
Kantons Zürich in einem Merkblatt empfiehlt, den CPC-Baustoff in neuen Bauprojekten zu verwenden, läuft die Implementierung meiner Meinung nach noch zu schleppend.

Woran könnte das liegen?
Zum einen an meiner eigenen Ungeduld (lacht), zum anderen müssen ein neuer Werkstoff und eine neue Baumethode in der Bauindustrie eingeführt werden. Dies ist mit viel Aufklärungsarbeit verbunden. Die Bauherren erkennen jedoch immer mehr die ökologischen Vorteile von CPC-Bauteilen und die Planer schätzen die neuen Möglichkeiten. Ich bin überzeugt, dass CPC im Bauwesen eine grosse Chance hat.
