Der Schweizer Markt für neue Nutzfahrzeuge hat im Jahr 2025 einen markanten Rückgang von 8,3 Prozent auf nur noch 38’707 Neuzulassungen verzeichnet. Besonders stark betroffen waren schwere Nutzfahrzeuge und Personentransportfahrzeuge, während sich bei elektrisch angetriebenen Nutzfahrzeugen ein gegenteiliger Trend zeigt: Die starke Förderung und die Angebotsvielfalt haben dazu beigetragen, dass im Jahr 2025 mehr als jeder fünfte neue Lastwagen mit Strom fährt.
Bei den schweren Nutzfahrzeugen über 3,5 Tonnen Gesamtgewicht sank die Zahl der Neuzulassungen von 4’876 Fahrzeugen im Jahr 2024 auf 4’197 im Jahr 2025. Das entspricht einem Rückgang von 14 Prozent. Ein zentraler Grund für diese Entwicklung ist die anhaltende Unsicherheit rund um die leistungsabhängige Schwerverkehrsabgabe (LSVA). Wie geht es nach 2029 weiter? Offen ist für viele Transportunternehmen insbesondere, ab wann neue LSVA-Kategorien gelten. Die aktuelle parlamentarische Debatte um den Einführungszeitpunkt der LSVA-Erhebung für Elektrofahrzeuge verunsichert zunehmend den Markt. Noch vor kurzem gingen die Marktteilnehmer davon aus, dass Elektrolastwagen bis 2031 von der LSVA befreit sind. Die fehlende Planungssicherheit führt dazu, dass Investitionen in neue – teurere, aber umweltfreundlichere – Fahrzeuge nun zunehmend aufgeschoben werden.
Marktanteil von Elektro-Nutzfahrzeugen stark gestiegen
Trotz des allgemeinen Markteinbruchs hat sich die Elektrifizierung bei schweren Nutzfahrzeugen (>3,5t) bislang fortgesetzt. Die 942 neu in Verkehr gesetzten Fahrzeuge mit reinelektrischem Antrieb entsprechen einem Marktanteil von 22,4 Prozent, ein neuer Höchststand. Im abgelaufenen Jahr wurden 524 neue schwere batterieelektrische Lastwagen (BEV, >16t) neu zugelassen, was in dieser Gewichtsklasse einem Marktanteil von mehr als 16 Prozent entspricht. Das bisherige Fördersystem erzeugte insbesondere für die letztgenannte Kategorie eine beachtliche Marktnachfrage.
auto-schweiz-Direktor Thomas Rücker kommentiert die gegenläufige Entwicklung: «Unsicherheiten über regulatorische Rahmenbedingungen und Konjunktursorgen hatten den Schweizer Nutzfahrzeugmarkt im Jahr 2025 fest im Griff. Dank dem bestehenden regulatorischen Umfeld ist die Schweiz bei der Elektrifizierung der schweren Nutzfahrzeuge im europäischen Vergleich zwar vorn dabei. Diese Position verspielen wir aber durch die Unsicherheit rund um die LSVA zunehmend. Es braucht unbedingt langfristige Planungs- und Investitionssicherheit, damit der bisherige Markterfolg nicht gefährdet wird.» Für Rücker hält der Nutzfahrzeugmarkt aber ein ermutigendes Zeichen für den Personenwagenmarkt bereit. «Es zeigt, dass sich ein Markt mit einem stimulierenden regulatorischen Umfeld wirksam steuern lässt. Finanzielle Anreize und Rahmenbedingungen, die sich an der Marktrealität ausrichten, zeigen Wirkung.»
Neuzulassungen bei leichten Nutzfahrzeugen spiegeln Konjunktursorgen
Auch bei den leichten Nutzfahrzeugen bis 3,5 Tonnen Gesamtgewicht, den Lieferwagen und leichten Sattelschleppern, blieb in diesem Jahr eine Erholung aus. Im Gesamtjahr 2025 wurden 28’992 Fahrzeuge neu zugelassen, was einem Rückgang von 5,0 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahr entspricht. Gerade kleine und mittlere Unternehmen sowie eine Vielzahl von Handwerkern rechnen offensichtlich mit einer Eintrübung der wirtschaftlichen Aussichten und zögern den Fahrzeugersatz hinaus.
Lieferwagen werden ökologischer
Bei den leichten Nutzfahrzeugen blieb der Dieselantrieb die dominierende Antriebsart, verlor aber Marktanteile an Plug-in-Hybride und reinelektrische Antriebe. Im Jahr 2024 betrug der Marktanteil der sogenannten Steckerfahrzeuge 8,1 Prozent. Dieser Anteil schnellte im Jahr 2025 auf 16,9 Prozent hoch. Die 4’895 Steckerfahrzeuge im Jahr 2025 (vs. 2’457 im 2024) entsprechen einer Verdoppelung. Diese Entwicklung ist auch der Anpassungsleistung der Fahrzeughersteller geschuldet. Die Importeure haben ihr Angebot an elektrifizierten Modellen stark ausgebaut, um die 20 Prozent strengeren Emissionsvorgaben für Lieferwagen erfüllen zu können.
Fast ein Fünftel weniger Personentransportfahrzeuge
Einen deutlichen Rückgang verzeichneten die Personentransportfahrzeuge. Die Neuzulassungen gingen im Jahr 2025 um 19 Prozent auf 5’518 Neuzulassungen zurück (2024: 6’800). Hauptverantwortlich dafür war die Entwicklung bei Kleinbussen, Reisecars sowie Wohnmobilen. Während sich der Rückgang bei Wohnmobilien schon länger abzeichnete, verzeichnete der Markt einen grossen Zuwachs an Bussen. In diesem Segment wuchs der Markt um beachtliche 49 Prozent. Verantwortlich dafür waren grössere Ersatzinvestitionen im öffentlichen Verkehr.
Zusammen mit den historisch tiefen 233’737 neuen Personenwagen sind im Jahr 2025 in der Schweiz und im Fürstentum Liechtenstein insgesamt 272’444 neue Motorfahrzeuge in Verkehr gesetzt worden. Im Vergleich zum Vorjahreswert von 281’740 stellt dies einen weiteren Rückgang um 9’296 Neuimmatrikulationen oder 3,3 Prozent dar.
