Startschuss für einzigartigen Innovationscampus

Auf dem BaseLink Areal hat der Aushub für den Innovations- und Gewerbekomplex GRID begonnen.

Der «GRID Campus of Collaboration» setzt im Bachgraben in Allschwil ein architektonisches Ausrufezeichen. Auf rund 50’000 Quadratmetern Nutzfläche entstehen auf fünf Geschossen flexible Flächen mit modernsten Büros und Labors für Lehre, Forschung, Entwicklung und die Herstellung zukunftsträchtiger Produkte. Das Herz des Gebäudes ist der begrünte und mit Bäumen bepflanzte Innenhof von der Grösse eines Fussballfeldes. Er unterstützt ganz neue Formen von Austausch zwischen Institutionen, Firmen, Ideen und Menschen. Das von den Architekten Herzog & de Meuron entworfene Gebäude wird von der Immobilien-Entwicklungsfirma Senn Resources AG realisiert. Die Investitionskosten belaufen sich auf rund CHF 150 Millionen.

Als strategischer Partner und Ankermieter des GRID (Grand Réseau d’Innovation et de Développement) tritt der Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area auf. Er wird seinen jetzigen Standort in Allschwil aufgeben und auf Mitte 2022 in der ersten Etappe des GRID eine Fläche von rund 6’000 Quadratmetern mieten. Bis dahin soll auch ein Grossteil der weiteren Flächen vermietet sein. Im GRID werden dereinst rund 2’000 Personen arbeiten können.

Das Bachgrabengebiet bietet in den Bereichen Life Sciences, Biotech, Public Health und Medtech jetzt schon ein Umfeld mit innovativen Institutionen und Firmen wie Actelion und Idorsia. Mit dem GRID und dem benachbarten Neubau des Schweizerischen Tropen- und Public Health-Instituts (Swiss TPH) trägt nun auch das BaseLink Areal dazu bei, dass die Region Basel als erstklassiges europäisches Ökosystem für Innovationen weiter an Bedeutung gewinnt. Der Bachgraben wird vollends zum Kristallisationspunkt für alles, was mit Gesundheit und Innovation zu tun hat.
