In vielen Wohnungen verschmelzen Küche und Essbereich vor allem aus praktischen Gründen miteinander. Doch bei der Einrichtung spielen auch ästhetische Gesichtspunkte eine wichtige Rolle. Schliesslich soll die Kombination aus Küche und Esszimmer dafür sorgen, dass sich alle Haushaltsmitglieder wohl darin fühlen.
An den räumlichen Gegebenheiten orientieren
Der Grundriss der Wohnung oder des Hauses ist ausschlaggebend dafür, auf welche Art und Weise Küche und Essbereich miteinander vereinbart werden. In grossen Wohnküchen oder Wohnzimmern mit integrierter Küchenzeile ist natürliche mehr Platz für ausladende und stilvolle Tische mit individuellen Designs als in kleinen Küchen. Doch auch wenn nur wenig Bodenfläche vorhanden ist, gibt es raffinierte Lösungen. Die folgenden drei Varianten sind auf verschiedene räumliche Gegebenheiten ausgelegt.
Variante 1: Kleine Küche mit viel Stauraum und Esstisch
Wenn die Küche nur ein paar Quadratmeter misst und im Wohnzimmer auch kein Platz für einen Esstisch ist, gilt es kreativ zu werden. Die Küchenzeile sollte in diesem Fall nur auf einer Seite des Raumes verlaufen, damit auf der anderen Seite Platz für einen Küchentisch ist.
Besonders praktisch ist ein Wandklapptisch. Alternativ bietet sich ein Modell an, das an den Seiten, die in den Raum ragen, abgerundet ist. So stossen sich die Familienmitglieder nicht so leicht an den Kanten. Meist wird ein solcher Tisch ebenfalls an der Wand befestigt und auf der anderen Seite mit einem einzigen Bein gestützt.
Für viel Stauraum sorgen hohe Wandschränke. Damit auch die oberen Fächer für kleine Personen erreichbar sind, kann eine Trittleiter angeschafft werden. An Haken an der Wand lassen sich ausserdem Kochutensilien platzsparend aufhängen. Gerade in kleinen Küchen oder in Räumen mit Nischen, vorstehenden Kaminrohren und anderen Hindernissen können massangefertigte Küchenmöbel sinnvoll sein. Smarte Küchenlösungen helfen hingegen dabei Energie zu sparen und die Küchengeräte auch bequem von anderen Räumen aus zu steuern.
Variante 2: Grosszügige Wohnküche
Ist die Küche so gross, dass auch ein ordentlicher Esstisch darin Platz findet, erhöhen sich die Möglichkeiten ungemein. Wer einen modernen Bistro-Look in seinen eigenen vier Wänden realisieren möchte, kann dort beispielsweise eine Theke mit zwei schicken Barhockern aufstellen. So bleibt in der Wohnküche noch Platz für ein gemütliches Sofa.
Doch auch ein Esstisch lässt sich hier unterbringen. Runde Modelle sind besonders kommunikativ, da sich alle Personen gut sehen und somit wunderbar miteinander sprechen können. Lange rechteckige Tische haben ebenfalls ihren Reiz. Diese passen gut zu einer Sitzbank. Wird sie direkt an der Wand platziert, kann auf diese Weise sogar Platz gespart werden.
Variante 3: Küche im Wohnbereich
In vielen modernen Wohnungen befindet sich die Küchenzeile direkt anschließend ans Ess- beziehungsweise Wohnzimmer. Eine optische Trennung der verschiedenen Bereiche ist hier besonders wichtig. Das gelingt beispielsweise, indem die Fronten der Küche in einem anderen Farbton als die restlichen Möbel gehalten sind. Wer vorzugsweise braune Holzmöbel im skandinavischen Stil im Wohnzimmer stehen hat, kann mit einer weissen Küche für einen Kontrast sorgen und so dennoch der eigenen Einrichtung treubleiben.
Auch ein gezielter Stilbruch sorgt für eine Abgrenzung zum Wohnbereich. Dabei sollte aber immer darauf geachtet werden, dass sich dennoch ein roter Faden durch den gesamten Raum zieht. Wenn der Wohnbereich beispielsweise im Industrial Style überzeugt, während sich Küche und Essbereich im minimalistischen Stil präsentieren, können sie durch farblich aufeinander abgestimmte Accessoires optisch zusammengeführt werden.
Auch eine Kücheninsel bietet sich als Trennmöglichkeit an. Sie stellt ausserdem zusätzliche Arbeitsfläche und weiteren Stauraum zur Verfügung. Besonders raffiniert sind Modelle, die auf einer Seite in einen Esstisch übergehen. So werden Küche und Essbereich zu einer harmonischen Einheit, heben sich aber zugleich vom Rest des Raumes ab.
In ausreichend grossen Räumen lassen sich Küche und Essbereich bei Bedarf aber noch stärker vom Wohnbereich abgrenzen. Hierfür sind Raumtrenner sinnvoll. Diese müssen nicht unbedingt zwei Meter hoch sein. Auch Modelle, die nur ein bisschen höher als der Esstisch sind, leisten bereits gute Dienste. Werden darauf Pflanzen platziert, wird die Trennwand zum dekorativen Element im Raum.
Was sonst noch wichtig ist
Der Essbereich sollte so gestaltet sein, dass alle Haushaltsmitglieder Platz daran finden. Wer häufig Gäste empfängt, sollte das ebenfalls einplanen. Ausziehbare Tische sind hier eine gute Lösung. Klappstühle können platzsparend in der Kammer oder im Keller verstaut werden.
Wer möchte, dass seine Küche optisch ordentlich aussieht, ist mit geschlossenen Fronten gut beraten. Diese schaffen ein ruhiges Gesamtbild, das für das Auge sehr angenehm ist. Vor allem in kleineren Küchen ist das wichtig. Offene Regale können dennoch zum Einsatz kommen, sollten aber nicht überhandnehmen und stets aufgeräumt sein. Darauf finden am besten die schönsten Tassen oder ein paar frische Küchenkräuter ihren Platz.
