Oslo, Los Angeles, Mexiko-Stadt und Budapest verpflichten sich zu sauberem Bauen

Vier führende Bürgermeister sind Erstunterzeichner der C40 Clean Construction Declaration und verpflichten sich, mit der Baubranche zusammenzuarbeiten, um die Emissionen bei Bauprojekten in ihren Städten bis 2030 zu halbieren. Das Baugewerbe ist für 23 Prozent der weltweiten THG-Emissionen verantwortlich 

Die Bürgermeister von Oslo, Los Angeles, Mexiko-Stadt und Budapest haben heute in Zusammenarbeit mit führenden Unternehmen und innovativen Wirtschaftsgruppierungen versprochen, die Emissionen bei allen Bautätigkeiten in ihren Städten bis 2030 zu halbieren. 

Mit der C40 Clean Construction Declaration verpflichten sich die Bürgermeister, die globale Bauindustrie zu revolutionieren und in eine nachhaltigere Zukunft zu führen, um «ein blühendes, widerstandsfähiges und gesundes Leben für alle in unseren Städten zu erreichen, insbesondere für unsere schwächsten Gemeinschaften». 

Die Bauindustrie ist derzeit für über 23 Prozent der weltweiten THG-Emissionen und 30% des globalen Ressourcenverbrauchs verantwortlich. «Business as usual» würde einen gefährlichen globalen Temperaturanstieg von 3°C bedeuten. 

Die Erklärung setzt mutige und ehrgeizige Ziele, um Gebäude und Infrastrukturen der Zukunft mit Netto-Null-Emissionen zu entwickeln: 

  • Reduzierung der Grauen Emissionen um mindestens 50 Prozent für alle neuen Gebäude und Nachrüstungen bis 2030 
  • Verringerung der Grauen Emissionen um mindestens 50 Prozent aller Infrastrukturprojekte bis 2030 
  • Beschaffung und, wenn möglich, Verwendung von ausschliesslich emissionsfreien Baumaschinen ab 2025. 

Die Verpflichtung zur Um- und Nachrüstung des bestehenden Gebäudebestands birgt ein enormes Potenzial zur Schaffung neuer grüner Arbeitsplätze – unerlässlich für eine umweltfreundliche und ausgewogene Erholung nach COVID-19. 

Die Bürgermeister werden ihre Kaufkraft nutzen, um emissionsfreie Baumaschinen zu standardisieren, Transparenz und Rechenschaftspflicht in der Lieferkette zu fordern, eine Politik des sauberen Bauens in Entwurfs-, Beschaffungs- und Vertragsverfahren sowie Bauvorschriften zu verankern. Die Bürgermeister versprechen, bis 2025 mindestens ein emissionsfreies Vorzeige-Bauprojekt zu genehmigen und jährlich über den Fortschritt zu berichten.
