Die BMW Group baut ihre Kompetenzen im Bereich Physical AI weiter aus. Das BMW Group Werk Landshut übernimmt dabei zentrale Entwicklungsaufgaben für Software im Bereich KI-gestützter Robotik in der Komponentenfertigung. Im Fokus stehen offene Softwareplattformen, das Generieren, Bereitstellen und Aufbereiten von Trainingsdaten, Simulation und Bewegungsplanung sowie das Trainieren von Robotersystemen. Die Aktivitäten ergänzen die bereits laufenden Pilotprojekte zum Einsatz humanoider Robotik in den Werken Leipzig und Spartanburg. Landshut bringt dafür seine Rolle als Kompetenzstandort für die Inhouse-Komponentenfertigung ein. Die hohe Bandbreite an Produkten und Fertigungsverfahren bietet ideale Voraussetzungen, um neue Ansätze der KI-gestützten Robotik unter realen Produktionsbedingungen zu entwickeln und zu bewerten. Im Zentrum der Aktivitäten steht die Frage, welche Aufgaben sich künftig für humanoide Robotersysteme eignen – insbesondere dort, wo Flexibilität, feinmotorische Fähigkeiten und ein Verständnis der Arbeitsumgebung gefragt sind.
